About Jem Sirrine
Jem Sirrine is the Team Lead of the PGA/ECR team for International Customs Clearance at FedEx Logistics in Memphis, Tennessee. He joined the organization nearly three years ago and is responsible for everything from communicating with governmental agencies to training new agents, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and much more.
Jem Sirrine began his career as an Athletic Training Intern for the Cleveland Indians in Winter Haven, Florida, after graduating from university, where he received his Bachelor’s in Athletic Training from Appalachian State University. He assisted with the rehabilitation and treatment of player injuries in the minor and major leagues. From there, he was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where he received his Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology.
In 2000, Jem worked as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Winter Park High School. His responsibilities included coordinating with the Head Athletic Trainer to provide coverage for all varsity and junior varsity sports, performing pre-practice treatments and conducting rehabilitation outside of school hours, and supervising athletic training interns. He also taught various courses on Personal Health and Fitness, Weight Training, and Team Sports.
Jem was later recruited by Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida, as the Head Athletic Trainer. His role encompassed covering 16 varsity sports, coordinating free pre-participation physicals for all athletes, overseeing the departmental budget, ordering supplies, purchasing capital equipment, negotiating with vendors, and working with orthopedic surgeons to expand the Sports Medicine team. In addition, Jem was part of the Adjunct Faculty, where he taught courses on Athletic Training, First Aid and CPR, Therapeutic Modalities, and Human Growth and Development.
Jem then served as an Athletic Trainer for Bond Clinic in Winter Haven. During his four years with the clinic, he was responsible for growing the orthopedic department through the establishment of new relationships within the community and the recruitment of new partnerships with local schools. He provided athletic training services for various educational institutions, performed patient intake and evaluation in the office of the orthopedic surgeon, conducted treatment and rehabilitation of patients, and coordinated and submitted daily insurance billing for the Physical Therapy Department.
His career as an Athletic Trainer continued to thrive, working at Southeastern University (SEU) in Lakeland, Florida, for 11 years. As Head Athletic Trainer, he oversaw the growth of the Athletic Training Department to a staff of eight certified athletic trainers and was responsible for hiring and managing its members. He was responsible for the department’s budget, recruited physicians and providers to expand SEU’s Sports Medicine team, communicated policies and procedures to individuals and small and large groups, negotiated with insurance companies to develop and purchase both primary and secondary policies for the athletic department, worked with the Director of Athletics to implement mandatory screening for Sickle Cell Trait and cardiac abnormalities for all athletes, and collaborated with architects and vendors to design multiple Athletic Training facilities. Jem also taught courses on Athletic Training, First Aid, and CPR.
